Catherine Van der Veen

Catherine van der Veen is an experienced Executive with 16 years of Financial Services experience. Catherine completed her bachelor degree in Agricultural Economics at Sydney University and is a graduate of Harvard Business School (leadership program).

Catherine is the CEO and Managing Director of Generation life Limited, a Public Australian Insurance and Investment company. Catherine works in a job-share with Lucy Foster and shares the role of CEO, a first for an Australian Financial Services organisation. Prior to joining Generation Life as CEO, Catherine was the General Manager of Strategic Projects for the Wealth Management arm of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, with Lucy in a successful job-share partnership.

Catherine held a variety of roles within the Westpac and CBA Banking groups, and affiliates, including product management, project management, distribution, marketing, strategy and business management across retail banking, wealth management and investment management based in Sydney, Boston, London and Singapore. She has a demonstrated track record in leadership, product development and driving commercial and customer outcomes.

Catherine is a co-Director of JVDV Consulting, providing strategic advice to Government, Infrastructure and banking/funds management clients on a range of programs including project management, tender evaluations, sales, product development, staff engagement, customer strategy and innovation.

Catherine has two young sons and she is an active member in her local community, a mentor to young at-risk women through the Beacon Foundation and acts as committee member and treasurer for local volunteer organisations.
